In a news release, Atlantic City police said detectives conducted surveillance in the first block of South Florida Avenue on Thursday, Apr. 18. Four men were arrested for having or selling drugs.

Isaiah Brown, 19, of Atlantic City, was taken into custody after running away from police. Once he was arrested, he continued to be uncooperative and struggled with detectives.

Because of statements Brown made to police, he was brought to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division. Police claim he tried to bite an officer and continued attempting to escape while handcuffed.

Police also arrested 59-year-old Phillip Quackenbush of Atlantic City and two men from Philadelphia: 32-year-old Antwain Coleman and 29-year-old Darrell Cherry Jr. The four men were found with 130 vials of cocaine, 100 bags of heroin, and more than $900 in cash.

Brown was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute, two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school zone, loitering to distribute a controlled dangerous substance, conspiracy, obstruction of justice, resisting arrest, and aggravated assault on a police officer.

Coleman was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute, two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school zone, loitering to distribute a controlled dangerous substance, and conspiracy.

Cherry was charged with money laundering, loitering to distribute a controlled dangerous substance, and conspiracy. Quackenbush was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance

Brown was held at the Atlantic County Justice Facility. Cherry, Coleman, and Quackenbush were released on summonses.

In a separate case, police also responded to a fight on the 600 block of New York Avenue. An officer saw 35-year-old Jamil Hunter of Atlantic City running away from the scene.

Hunter refused to stop for the officer, ran through the back door of an apartment, and left out of the front door. The residents didn't know Hunter and didn't invite him inside their apartments.

Hunter was eventually caught by police and taken into custody. He was found with a small amount of cocaine and had an active warrant for his arrest.

Hunter was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, obstruction of justice, resisting arrest, burglary, and hindering apprehension. He was also arrested back in February 2022 after he was found with a loaded gun and cocaine.

Anyone with information about drug activity should call the Atlantic City Police Department at 609-347-5858 or text an anonymous tip to TIP411 (847411) and begin the text with "ACPD".
